A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT TESYA (TEJEDORAS DE SOMBREROS Y ARTESANÍAS)
A WOMAN'S HAT-WEAVING COOPERATIVE IN ECUADOR
I just finished shooting a short documentary about TESYA, a woman's hat-weaving cooperative in Sigsig, Ecuador.
Hat-weaving is a way of life in Sigsig; the tradition dates back to 1630 and continues to be a significant source of income, especially for women who need to support themselves and their families in a society that has been severely affected by migration to the United States and Spain. Please visit their website to learn more about their association and what you can do to support them.
